Markey Report on Security and Privacy in the Automotive Sector

This week a report on security and privacy in the automobile industry by  Senator Edward Markey (D-MA) has gotten quite a bit of attention in Washington and beyond.  It is fairly brief, 12 page document and it’s conclusions are based on responses by auto manufacturers to written questions posed by Senator Markey.

It is rare that a first-term, minority Senator to shake the foundations on K Street and federal agencies by issuing a single report on their own.  But Ed Markey is not your average junior Senator.  He has been a thorn in the side of various industries during his long tenure in the House of Representatives and the Energy and Commerce Committee along with the former Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA).
